The oldest and biggest fraternal organization in the world is Freemasonry. It is steered by the enduring conviction that it is everyone’s duty to improve the world. For three centuries, Freemasonry has fostered and fortified the moral fiber of individual men by offering chances for camaraderie, altruism, and truth-seeking both within and outside of our own communities. WHAT ARE WE

A man who has sworn to uphold our age-old ideals of truth, brotherly love, and mutual aid is a Freemason. There is far more to being a Freemason. A Freemason has made a commitment to bettering his community and himself, as well as to assist other Masons in carrying out the same goals. A man who respects history, aspires to better the future, feels compassion for others, and wants to be a part of something bigger than himself is a Freemason. In Freemasonry, there are three degrees available: Journeyman, Master Mason, and Apprentice. Most people graduate as masters; some do so in a few months, while others take many years. However, a man is and will always be a Freemason after taking the Apprentice Oath.

More than 60,000 men participate in Texas Freemasonry, which is a thriving Brotherhood with more than 400 lodges around the state. Like-minded men of integrity who genuinely care about each other, who are loyal and honor bound to help those in distress, and who live by the Masonic values of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth are quietly improving their own lives and making a difference in the lives of others.
